OBJECT DRAWING MODE in Animate

VICTREE MEDIA 7

SUMMARY:

The Primitive tool, Rectangle and Oval Primitive Tool, are tools that allow users to change options on the stage. These tools allow users to apply strokes, fills, and specify rounded corners. The Rectangle Primitive options have curving edges in top-left, bottom-right, bottom-left, and top-right. To change the corner radius, users can right-click or press and hold the left mouse button on the rectangle or oval tool icon. The Rectangle Primitive Tool can be reset by clicking the reset button on the property Inspector. The object drawing mode displays a thin outline and shape regions according to the layer color. The midget circles indicate anchor points, which are not interactive or editable using selection tools. The object drawing mode prevents shape merging or destruction, allows for free movement, and deletes the whole object when removed. The properties panel can be found in the right bar, and the Rectangle and Oval Primitive Tools are available in Windows -> Properties. Animate's default mode allows users to merge objects of the same color on the same layer, using strokes as knives to slice fills and overlap objects.

If you want to know in detail about the object drawing modes, read them down below:

Introduction:

Before we get into Object Drawing Mode details, let us cover the two Primitive Tools left before: Rectangle and Oval Primitive Tool. These are tools that allow you to change options right on the stage. Today's course will cover: Primitive Tool, Open and Close Path, Object Drawing mode and Merge (Default) mode.

Primitive Tool:

You can apply strokes, fills and specify rounded corners. Position the pointer where the shape has to start, and drag it to where it has to end. You can select Windows -> Properties, if you cannot find the properties panel in right bar. You can play with stroke attribute to make size, width, style, etc. change, and you can set fill attribute for the Rectangle Tool. Like Polystar, Rectangle and Oval Tools in last class, you can add fill attribute too, click "ok" and drag onto the stage. When the object drawing mode button is dented, the line tool is in object drawing mode, which means that the object will not merge or cut each other as they intersect.

     For
Rectangle Primitive options, you have curving of the edges: top-left, bottom-right, bottom-left and top-right. If you cannot find Rectangle or Oval Primitive tool, right-click or press and hold the left mouse button on rectangle or oval tool icon depending on what shape you want to select. You should release the key when edges achieve the desired roundness. Adding a negative value in rectangle corner radius controls create an inverse radius. You can also deselect the constrain corner radius icon, and adjust each edge individually. RESET resets all of the Rectangle or Oval Primitive Tool controls, and restores to its initial shape and size. Deselect the lock icon in the rectangle options area of the property inspector to specify a different side radius for each corner.

USES

1) Select the Rectangle or Oval Primitive Tool icon [Depending on what you need] or use the shortcut.

2) Click the reset button on the property Inspector.

3) Press up or down arrow key to change the corner radius.

4) Hold Shift + Alt to scale the angle of the rectangle diagonally.

5) Hold Ctrl for bringing Selection Tool [More on it in the third lesson].

6) Drag while pressing Alt to scale the angle of the rectangle from both sides.

7) Drag while pressing Shift to scale the angle of the rectangle proportionally on one side.

Open and Close Path:

The Open Path is when the path is not connected with the starting point. While, Close Path determines whether a shape or path (If you are specifying an inner radius) of the circle is completed. If you specify an open path, no fill is applied to the resulting shape; only the stroke is drawn. Whereas, close path is selected by default.

Object Drawing Mode:

    The
object drawing mode shows you a thin outline along with the shape regions according to the colour of the layer, while selecting and drawing objects. The midget circles indicate the anchor points, and they are not interactive or editable using the selection tools.

Benefits

a- When you overlap an object with Object Drawing Mode on, it will prevent the shape from merging or destroying one another.

b- The whole object is selected.

c- Stroke and fill both are grouped.

d- The object moves freely on the stage.

e- The whole object is deleted when you remove it.

Merge (Default) Mode:

Our default mode in Animate is Merge Drawing Mode. You can overlap objects of the same color on the same layer to merge them together. If objects of different color on the same layer are put on top of another, the top shape will cut the down one. Fill and stroke are separate objects. Lastly, strokes can be utilised as knives to slice fills.
